things wrong with star trek: deep space 9
1. the sisko/picard fued - stupid way to introduce a new captain
2. major kira - ugh.
3. odo - kind of a stupid character, especially his relationship with kira
4. the new orleans connection - even before katrina, this was a stupid tie-in
5. the emissary - making your main character a religious leader seems iffy

things right about star trek: deep space 9
1. the dominion - once that storyline gets really rolling, shit gets good
2. the comedic stylings of o'brien & bashir - those 2 rock.
3. worf - i mean, he's worf.
4. odo - sometimes, his storyline is pretty strong
5. the ferengi - always good for a laugh

any other suggestions?

You know, I didn't get into DS9 at first, simply because of the time it came on (I just missed it as a kid). But I've been watching some re-runs here and there and I think it's the best acted star trek. Don't get me wrong, I love TNG, but there are some rough acting moments (season 1 & 2, mostly).

I don't know, what I've seen, I've generally liked. Especially once they bring Worf in & start the dominion war. I'm completely with you on all the strengths, but I disagree on a few of the weaknesses: I like Kira. But I never really got the whole emissary thing.
